The explanation below concerns processing transactions via the Gekko website.
Business
Saving your costs with a receipt/invoice for business purposes is the default option in Gekko when you open a transaction.
Have you already saved a cost item on the Costs page in Gekko? Then this cost will appear as a suggestion. If you click on the suggestion, your transaction will be immediately linked to your cost item.
Have you not yet saved an cost item? Then you can create a "+ Create new cost" via opening transaction. Creating a new cost is the same as saving a new cost item through the Costs page, but now the transaction is directly linked to your expense.
Expenses without a receipt or invoice
Do you have expenses that are not directly linked to a receipt or invoice? For example, bank service fees or your monthly mobile subscription?
In that case, you can still use the "+ Create new cost" option it's just that you're missing... the receipt :)
As long as it is reasonable to assume these are business expenses and you can obtain the invoice if needed, you can save your expense without a receipt.
Do you keep seeing the message that your cost is not complete? Then click on 'Ignore'.
Other
Can't link a business transaction to a receipt or invoice? Then you can mark the transaction as "Other."
This can happen, for example, when multiple transactions correspond to one larger expense.
Gekko will then ignore these "Other" transactions in further processing.
Taxes
Do you have a transaction related to taxes? When opening the transaction, click "Business" in the top left and change the type to "Taxes."
Assigning a transaction to "Taxes" means these were taxes you paid based on your administration in Gekko. This could include VAT payments or corporate income tax.
If you select this, your administration will not be changed, and there will be no other effect on your account.
Private
Do you have a transaction that should be marked as private? Just like with Taxes, click "Business" in the top left and change the type to "Private."
Selecting a private transaction means it will not be included in your business expenses. This may occur, for example, if you make a private withdrawal or a personal purchase using your business account.
