I Have Connected My Mollie Account, but I’m Unable to Send iDEAL Payment Requests

ou’ve likely not yet submitted all the necessary information to Mollie, which means your Mollie account hasn’t entered the "in review" phase. As long as your account remains incomplete, you won’t be able to send iDEAL payment links. To activate this functionality, you’ll need to:

  • Upload a copy of your identification to Mollie

  • Make a €0.01 iDEAL payment from the bank account where you wish to receive payments

  • Complete all business details (including a website! If you don’t have one, you can provide your LinkedIn profile URL or use something like www.getgekko.com)

  • In the "Website profile" section, provide information that matches what’s registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK). Also mention that you're signing up via Gekko — this helps speed up the review process.

Once you’ve completed these steps, your Mollie account status in Gekko will update to "in review", and you’ll be able to send iDEAL payment requests. Everything will then work directly from Gekko, and your clients will be able to pay using iDEAL.

Important: Payments made via iDEAL will be held by Mollie until your account has been reviewed and approved. Only after approval will payouts be periodically transferred to your bank account.

Gekko users who had already linked a Mollie account can continue using Mollie to process iDEAL payments. Users who have not yet linked a Mollie account can now sign up with Rootline to add payment links to their invoices. For more information, check out our Rootline support article.

Also note: a business bank account is required. This is a requirement from iDEAL. If you don’t have one yet, you can easily open a free business account for freelancers with Rabobank.
