Gekko Belgium and Spain: Gekko's Invoice contains VAT

Created by Dennis van Rooij, Modified on Mon, 12 Aug at 11:18 AM by Dennis van Rooij

Gekko uses the One-Stop Shop (OSS) system to remit the VAT from Gekko's invoices to the tax authorities in Belgium and Spain. Through the OSS system, Gekko can centrally submit VAT for both countries to the Dutch Tax Authorities, which reduces administrative burdens.

Applying local VAT rates:

For both Belgium and Spain, Gekko applies a VAT rate of 21%, as required by local legislation. As a result, Gekko does not need to reverse charge the VAT on invoices, and our users can also deduct the VAT from their received Gekko invoices.

Quarterly reporting:

Each quarter, Gekko submits an OSS declaration, in which the revenue and the VAT owed per country are reported. This streamlines the process and ensures compliance with EU VAT regulations.

Central management of EU VAT obligations:

By registering with the Dutch Tax Authorities through OSS, Gekko can manage all EU VAT obligations in one place, saving time and resources and increasing accuracy.

More information:

More details about the OSS system and how Gekko uses it can be found on the website of the Dutch Belastingdienst (in Dutch).
