In Gekko, there is no traditional general ledger or fixed ledger accounts. Instead, Gekko uses cost categories to structure your bookkeeping.
With a Gekko Premium account, you can also create your own custom cost categories, allowing you to tailor your administration even more effectively.
Ledger numbers in Excel export
You can download an Excel file of your expenses via the costs page. The Excel file itself can then be retrieved from the downloads page.
When you open the Excel file, you will see the ledger account and ledger number in columns K + L.
The ledger number is automatically generated based on the default cost category you selected.
Note: custom expense categories do not have a predefined ledger number.
Accountant connection
Do you have an accountant linked to your Gekko account?
If so, your accountant can:
Manage your expense categories.
Use the ledger in the Gekko Accountants Portal to assign specific ledger numbers to your custom cost categories.
This ensures your bookkeeping can align more closely with a traditional accounting setup, should this be required.
Is your accountant not yet connected to your Gekko account?
