Some users have reported that when downloading a PDF from the website of Gekko, the file type appears as application/octet-stream instead of .pdf. This can prevent uploading the file into systems like Moneybird or Yuki.
Cause
This is not an issue with our website or the PDF itself.
Windows automatically adds a Mark of the Web (MOTW) to files downloaded from the internet. This security tag tells Windows the file came from an untrusted source and could be potentially harmful.
When a file has this mark, certain applications (like Moneybird or Yuki) may treat it differently or refuse to process it.
Solution: Add Gekko Website to Your Trusted Sites
By adding https://www.getgekko.com/
to your Trusted Sites in Windows, future downloads will no longer be tagged with MOTW. This will prevent the “octet-stream” issue.
Steps to Add GetGekko.com as a Trusted Site
Open Internet Properties
Press Windows Key + S, type Internet Options (or Internet Properties), and open it.
Go to the Security Tab
Click the Security tab at the top.
Select Trusted Sites
Click Trusted sites and then Sites.
Add the Website
In the Add this website to the zone field, type:
https://www.getgekko.com
Click Add, then Close

Now, files downloaded from our website will no longer be marked as coming from an untrusted source, and your PDF uploads should work normally.
